Dress help please!

DH and I are heading on vacation soon to celebrate my birthday (yay!), and I have been all over Raleigh looking for some new dresses to wear @ night with barely any luck!  I have been to the Crabtree mall (including department stores), as well as TJMaxx/Ross/Kohls/Target.  I feel like I've covered all the places in the area, but thought I would ask to see if you ladies had any other suggestions...I am dying to find something new (ok, and not spend too much $$)...any ideas?

Re: Dress help please!

  • Might be more expensive, but what about some of the shops in Cameron Village?

You've covered all the places I typically check, the only other option I can think of would maybe be Dillards.  They don't have one at Crabtree but all the other malls in the area do.
  • A couple months ago I went into a Dress Barn for the first time. They actually had a lot of cute dresses and they weren't too expensive. I bought a dress for a wedding for around $40 and have gotten several compliments on it.
  • I was actually thinking of Cameron Village, too, but wondered about the price (haven't been to those places in a long time).  Also considered Dillards - I recall getting a few dresses from there in the past, so I may have to make the trek...
  • Old Navy? I'm very seldom in there so I'm not sure what they have anymore.
  • I would also try some of the stores at North Hills.  The dresses will probably be more on the pricey side, however they sometimes have pretty good sales.

  • There's a store in Cameron Village called Fabrik that has pretty reasonable prices.  Their selection is sort of hit or miss, but it's worth checking out if you're in the area.
  • I'm not that familiar with your area, but if you have a gap outlet near you it would be worth checking out. I went to our local outlet last week and they had several cute dresses.

Also, is it too late to shop online? Down East Basics has some really cute stuff and it's pretty cheap.

  • what style of dress are you looking for? i usually check these places.

Limited, White House, Ann Taylor Loft, Express, Forever 21, Dillards, Macys, Nordstrom ... do you have any smaller local boutiques you like?

  • Not sure what style you are looking for but when I was lookin for a dress a few weeks ago I found one in Dress Barn for like 40.00.. I also saw some in JcPenny but of course, they didnt have my size and their price was great too since they were having a sale.. Good luck
  • There is a GREAT consignment store downtown on Glenwood, next to Victorian Rose Bridal, called Revolver.  I have super success there all the time.  High end brands for affordable prices.  The door is to the left of Victorian Rose, then you go straight up the stairs and they are like the loft.  Everything is organized by size and type (shirts, skirts, dresses) etc.  Can't say enough about this hidden spot!

Oooh, Poz.  I'm always looking for a hidden gem, thanks for the recommendation!  I always see their add in the paper but have never been.  I will have to take a shopping trip there sometime soon.

  • I recently bought three dresses from Ann Taylor Loft to wear after I have the baby (forgiving in the stomach area!). They were really cute and can be dressed up with accessories and shoes. If you went to Crabtree, you probably looked there. One I am planning on wearing to a rehearsal dinner on September. Good luck!
  • I found my dresses for my cruise at JCPenney, Belk and Ross.  I'd check Nordstrom if you haven't yet as well as some of the other places mentioned like White House Black Market, Nordstrom, Loft, etc.
