Hurry up Monsoon!

It's been months since we got some rain! I need a rainy day!! Some people hate it, I LOVE it. But then again, I am an Az native and hardly ever see it, so I thoroughly enjoy it!

Anniversary

  • I go both ways on this...

Coming from New England mind you, I hate the rain. I love love love the sunny days here in AZ. I know we NEED the rain, but I still hate it. I also hate the day long humidity that comes with it if it rains late late at night or in the AM...

That being said, I freeking love the storms out here. We are so close to the mountains (like if if i Spit, it might get to them) and the thunder is so loud and the lightning is AMAZING!!! We don't get storms like that in New England!!

I really hope that you don't get them all when I am gone for a week, haha! There were not a lot of them (at least here in the WV) last summer so fingers crossed there will be enough after we get back to keep me satisfied.. haha!

I am just wondering what it is goin to be like because of all the rain we got this spring. Some weather guys are predicting a big season where as others are saying that since we had so much rain, it'll be quiet...

  • I'm with Jess....I HATE HATE HATE the rain as I am from Upstate NY where it rained all.the.damn time. The rain sucks...wet pants that soak up the water, frizzy hair, worse than normal drivers, our dog won't go out in the rain, etc. I could go on and on about the cons of rain.

I'd like to see one of these crazy monsoons though as I didn't see anything crazy last year.

  • I love monsoon season!!!  I hate the humidity, but the storms are awesome!

Although Phoenix monsoons are just totally not what they used to be.  The city is just so much bigger than it was 10-20 years ago, and it makes it harder for the storms to really travel across the city (the "concrete jungle" effect), and it doesn't cool off like it used at night (again concrete jungle).  But I know big storms still totally happen!

That is one thing I really like about living in Tucson.  The monsoons here are so similar to what I remember in Phoenix as a kid.  The wind blows in and really cools things off, we get actual rain (instead of just being spit on), and the storms are just cool!

  • Yeah, Skittler, the Urban Heat Island Effect really sucks the fun out of monsoons :(

But I am PSYCHED about whatever little dribbles we get here. This desert girl needs moisture in the air!
