K got a raise!
I am SSSOOO proud of him. He has been working his ass.off. I know you all dont' speak "welder," but he used to only know one type of welding called 'stick.' He was a stick structual welder. He had a little experience in 2 or 3 other types, but not to pass a job test or anything.
He now is a combination pipe welder and a pipe fitter. These are like 2 jobs for 1, so you could see why people would like to hire them. He past his test and got a riase. There are tons of jobs for those usually. He's using the company he is working for to learn new skills. he's been learning them so quickly. It takes some people years to learn what he's learned in less than 4 months. He's been practicing anytime he has free time including his lunch, breaks and anytime they are slow.
He's going to stay at his current job even tho with his riase he is still making 11 dollars an hour less than he was making before he was laid off.
There is one more type of welding he is working on, so he's staying put for now.
In the long run this is going to be great for us....unless all the oil rigs get up and move to Africa or south america and then I'll be moving closer to one of you bc/ Louisiana will be the new detroit, but lets not talk about that!
