XP: ideas for hanging poms??

So my AHR is on Saturday at my home. I bought some tissue poms from Etsy to hang over the food table. I can't figure out how to hang them without damaging our ceiling though!
The etsy seller said she hangs hers with regular tacks. I don't really want to put holes in my ceiling though. I thought about some kind of putty but I'm worried that it would discolor the paint. Any other brilliant ideas? They're pretty light and attached with fishing line.
This is sorta what I'm going for:

Re: XP: ideas for hanging poms??

  • They sell those sticky hooks that are supposed to be easy to remove.  I don't know what they are called but they're white.  Home Depot would have them.
  • If you can't find the hooks, could you buy some fishing line and hang it from one wall to the opposite wall, up really close to the ceiling?  Then from that line you can tie on the poms.

Would tape take off the paint from your ceiling?  If the poms aren't too heavy you might be able to tape them up with either white double-sided tape or some kind of clear tape.

  • You can buy heavy duty clear tape- I've used them for showers.  It will stick.

if you don't want to remove paint don't a) press it down into the ceiling (gently rub it) and b) rip it off- instead, get up on a chair and peel it off slowly..

Those are made by Command and are pretty cool. They have a wide variety of solutions and options... You may be able to buy them and tie the poms onto the hook, or you could try just buying the Command strips (the sticky part) and sticking that to your ceiling, and the poms directly onto the strips. Either way you go the strips should pull off as directed without damaging your paint.

I used them to hang some Christmas decorations, they were on our newly painted walls and came off with no damage.

Target has them too.  They're made by 3M.  We actually have everything in our house hung by them indcluding heavy picture frames and coat hangers.

They work really well.  What about stringing them across like lanterns?  That way you'll have less points to hang them from.
