question about day lilies and gerber daisies
I planted some gerber daisies and day lilies about a month or so ago and the flowers on them seemed to die really quickly. I still have them out there because the plant part of them are still green but I haven't seen flowers in weeks. Do you think these will bloom again or should I just pull them?

Re: question about day lilies and gerber daisies
Daylilies are perennials and will bloom for about a month once a year. They'll come back next year for sure, they are very hardy. If they already had their months worth of blooms, they will not rebloom for you this year.
The daisies should flower again without deadheading but it will take longer. Deadheading (removing the spent blossoms) ensures that the plant puts it's energy into bud formation and not seed formation. I find Gerbers a little temperamental. It may just take some time.
Day lilies got their name because their flowers last for only one day. After all the current year's buds have bloomed, they're done.
The good news is that they make more buds as they mature, so next year your daylilies will bloom longer.
The daisies can be can be termpermental, I've killed them before. I've had better luck with them in pots than in the ground in my beds. I have daylillies too, I have some yellow ones. I got transplants from a co-worker... Some of them I've had for 3 years, they're doing really well this year. I've had flowers on the for about a week. I got 2 new plants from the same co-worker this spring, my new plants don't have flowers on them, and I don't think they'll get any.
