Any ideas for a lunch following a Christening?

We would probably eat around 3ish.  Would that be lunch or dinner? It would be easier for me to serve mostly cold dishes, since I would be just getting back from the church.

Re: Any ideas for a lunch following a Christening?

  • All of these can be prepped or cooked ahead the day(s) before and served cold or at room temp:

    Fruit + Cheese Platter

    Crudite Platter

Beef Tenderloin - sliced w/horseradish sauce

Grilled Chicken Breast - sliced w/Mango Salsa

    Pasta Salad or potato salad

Bib Letttuce, sliced strawberries, almonds & blue cheese w/vinaigrette

    Rolls + Breads

  • I agree with vvwalker - if you wanted a different meat, you can always do a ham.

If you want to get creative with sides, this couscous and grilled veggie salad is something different that can be made ahead and served at room temperature (take it out of the fridge before you go to the christening).

And.... the link button isn't working:

  • I went to a lunch once after a baby dedication and they did pulled pork. It was all pretty much ready to go (crockpot) when we got back from the church so it worked really well.

  • You could do salad selection (maybe a tortolini, green, and a fruit) and nice sandwiches (turkey, brie and fig spread, tenderloin with horseradish, grilled chicken and smoked gouda) - those can all be assembled by your guests with platters made the night before...
