I'm playing around with a borrowed Kindle to see if I like it and am wondering how it compares with the Nook. Any thoughts/experience?
Re: Nook vs. Kindle?
I have the Kindle, which I like a lot. My boss has the Nook, so we did a quick comparison one day.
I like the virtual kb on the Nook more than the physical kb on the Kindle, but that was the only major difference for me.
Personally, I have always had really great customer service from Amazon and really poor customer service from B&N, so I would still pick the K2 again.
The e-ink is the same supplier for both (just in case you didn't know), so the readability will be exactly the same. That's the most important feature IMO.
I have a nook and I love it.
I like the user features like the touch screen and that it doesn't have a giant bulky key board like the Kindle.
I also like that you can use the touch screen or buttons on either side to turn the pages backwards and forwards.
I've had fine customer service with my nook- in fact, it has been awesome. And if you have any issues they can't resolve online, you can just pop into a store and have someone help you there.
If you have a B&N membership, a lot of the ebooks are cheaper on their site, and you get the option to download 500,000 titles free plus weekly additions.
Finally, it is way cheaper with the wifi nook and tethering to my Blackberry than buying the 3G version of either device, so if you have a smart phone, I'd look into it.
Stand up for something you believe in.
I just did this same debate with myself.
I ended up getting the wi-fi only nook because it had more features that appealed to me..I prefer touch screens, I liked that if I ever had a problem, I could go to a store and I like the free reading option at a B&N store, as well as the lending program.
I did some research online (just google nook vs. kindle) and made my decision from there. So far, I love my Nook. I think they both are great products and you're not going to go wrong with either.
