Website with instructions to remove computer virus
Does anyone have a website that gives instructions to remove computer virus? The visur we have is making window pop up boxes come up asking to activate a virus scan, but it is fake.
TIA
Re: Website with instructions to remove computer virus
Personally, I wouldn't recommend doing it on your own unless you absolutely know what you're doing. Most of the time removing viruses requires a lot of work and you could potentially remove things that shouldn't be removed. Here's what I would do
1) Take it to the Geek Squad and have them take a look at it. (If you have one nearby)
2) If it's going to cost a lot to get it fixed, it might be worth it to buy a new computer and transfer whatever data you want to keep. (photos, documents, etc)
Of course, getting a new one depends on how old your current one is, and how bad the virus is.

This seems way to extreme IMO.
Based on the problem you describe, your computer may not even be infected with a virus. First of all, do you have antivirus software installed? Has it alerted you that it has detected a virus? Has anything been quarantined? Sounds to me more like spy/adware that could be fixed by running the free version of AdAware, deleting cookies from your internet browser, etc.
