Please help my Green Peppers!

I have been very successful, not having to use pesticides on my vegetables. My green peppers within the last month finally started growing. I noticed that they were starting to get "imperfections" on them but didn't pay too much attention to it. Well, the "imperfections" starting looking like something took a bite out of my peppers. I lost about 7 peppers before I realized that I needed to spray insecticide on them. I bought Seven, it was the only insecticide that I could find that was tomato and bell pepper friendly.

A week after spraying, my peppers are starting to show the same damage. I am lost in what to do. The only bugs I have found on them are these tiny black "knat looking" bugs (photo below). Does anyone have any ideas what they are and/or what I can do to get ride of them?

  • Did you by any chance get any hail storms? It almost looks like damage from an outside force of nature.

No, we haven't had any major storms this year.

Everywhere there is damage, I have seen those little black bugs walking around.

  • Ummm I'm sorry I can't be of much help. I know that even a little bug can make a small hole that will grow and rot as the plant grows. If you have a local farmers market you could take a pepper or picture and ask a local farmer. They may be able to give you more insight.

  • Chelsea, I am having the same problem over here.  I think we need to find a "florida gardening club" to join!  Smile
