Does anyone else...

kind of stop watching when their team gets kicked out of tournaments? I mean... I love soccer. But now i'm just mad. Yes, I am totally a sore loser.

Re: Does anyone else...

  • I totally stop watching.  I might still watch the World Cup because its only every 4 years.

But normally, when the Colorado teams (Rockies/Nugs/Avs/Broncos) get kicked out, I don't watch another game (except the super bowl).  I couldn't tell you who won a single world series except 2007 when the Rocks got creamed by the Red Sox.

  • No.  My main teams are the Reds and the Bengals.  If I stopped watching when my teams got knocked out I would never watch post season anything.

There are such great teams left in the World Cup that I doubt I'll notice the US is gone.

  • If I like the teams that are left I'll keep watching, otherwise the season is over for me.

  • This is the only sport I watch all summer (I hate baseball) and I only get this delight every 4 years.  So I'm continuing to watch.

Some of the upcoming games are pure sports porn - Spain vs. Portugal, Germany vs. Argentina, Chile vs. Brasil (on right now).....  This is a hell of a lot better than watching a bunch of out of shape men swing sticks at little balls and run in circles. Stick out tongue

  • I'm still watching because I like some of the match-ups...but I lost a lot of interest in it once the US lost. I'm a sore loser, too.

I'm the same way with any sport - once my team is out, I pretty much tune it out. I'll keep watching, but I'm not as into it as I once was.

  • It depends on the sport. I basically stopped paying attention to the NHL playoffs when the Penguins were out. I might follow the NBA playoffs if the Cavs were playing since I have a lot of family in Cleveland, otherwise I do not really care. Unless the Pirates or Indians make the World Series I probably will not care or watch.

I will watch the Superbowl, March Madness and the World Cup regardless of who is playing. I will watch the NCAA championship football game, but might go to bed before it is over depending on the score and who is playing.

  • I couldn't be less interested in the World Cup, so I won't watch a single game, even if the USA ended up winning. I watch baseball and football, and the occasional hockey game. I watch baseball until the bitter end, even if my team is out of it. Usually I am rooting against someone and that makes me feel "invested". I'll watch most of the football playoffs, and if I happen to notice a hockey game I might turn it on.

  • It really depends I usually will still watch just not as intensely.  I may miss a game or so here and there.
  • For me, it totally depends on the sport.

I'm not a big soccer fan and don't have a vested interest in any of the teams. That said, my husband watches the games when they're on, and I've started rooting for the Dutch for some reason. It's probably the orange jerseys. But I won't lose any sleep if they lose.

Then there are my "real" teams -- the teams I'm emotionally invested in. Those are the Pittsburgh teams (Steelers, Penguins, Pirates) and the University of Missouri. Sometimes when one of them loses in the playoffs (or the NCAA tournament, for Missouri), I'll stay annoyed for about a week. And that will keep me from watching the other playoff games because I don't want to watch other teams celebrating while I'm in a bad mood Crying
