What to do for the 4th?

We usually go to my parents place up north in Pinedale (between Show Low and Heber-Overgaard - Not to be confused with PInetop), but this year they are in WA for vacation and my in laws are in town. I have no idea what to do! Any suggestions? TIA!

  • Tempe Town Lake does something but I haven't heard much about it this year. Steele Indian School Park or Indian Steele Park not sure which way it goes, but they do something. Other then that, I am not sure.

We will be celebrating at the DBacks/Dodgers game on Saturday. After the game they are doing fireworks.

  • Tempe town lake is a son of a gun, I wouldn't go there, especially if you are taking the baby.

We usually go to our church (East Valley Bible church ) they let people park/watch the fireworks there that are at the highschool across the street

  • We went to Glendale's fireworks a couple of years ago at GCC and they were pretty good. If it's not too hot on Sunday, we might try to go somewhere. One thing I miss about Ohio is the ability to be outside all day on the fourth, having bbqs and swimming and watching fireworks. It's always so darn hot out here that day, and watching fireworks on TV just isn't the same.

    .

You dont have to go in to see them. you park park in the neighborhood and just walk somewhere, where you can see them. I've done that before and it was nice.

  • oh yeah you can do that. tempe just gets so crowded and crazy on the 4th, i fear for my life when driving. we never go to the event things, just park somewhere close and watch them. good thing about phoenix is, there are tonnnnnsss of fireworks displays and you can see at least one from pretty much anywhere. i used to work at the big b of a building off alma school and southern. we used to go to the top of the parking garage and watch a bunch of them

  • No idea what we are doing. I know on the 3rd we are going to Bartlett lake. The 4th I am having a BBQ here at the house. I am not sure though where we will watch fireworks. I guess it depends on where we are? I hate being new cause I dont know where anything is, haha!

  • I am always at a loss what to do on the 4th.  In CA we always lit fireworks and and had a bbq, but it is totally different out here.

Oh well, guess I am having a bbq and Wii sports tournament again this year.

  • Undecided thus far because there are so many great events going on around the valley. Here are my top picks in no particular order:

    The Phoenix Zoo

    Peoria Sports Complex

The top level of the Sky Harbor Airport parking garage

    Rawhide

    Cavecreek- The Satisfied Frog

Anthem & Wet N Wild Phx are doing events the day before.
