How do i harvest lavender?
i have a blooming plant in my garden, but im not sure when i can clip the flowers, how much to trim and what to do with it once i bring it in. Id like to cupit and keep it in water for the fragrance, but i dont want to ruin the plant. When can i do this and will it rebloom this summer?
Re: How do i harvest lavender?
I just cut it about halfway down (unless the plant needs thinning).
I'm not sure it would work in a vase, but you could dry it (before the flowers open).
Mine blooms in spring & will rebloom in fall if I cut it back as described above. I have Hidcote...not sure if other cultivars are different or not.
My lavender are super hardy, so I just cut them whenever and stick them in water. Or I dry them and use them that way.
They'll bloom again no problem.
Our little Irish rose came to us on March 5, 2010
Don't drink the water.
