ground cover for between garden step-stones? LIP

Any suggestions for low-growing but pretty ground cover for the space between the step-stones in the veg garden?  You can see in the pics, there are a few inches in between each tile, and between the tiles and the raised beds.  The weeds grow so fast I can't keep up with them because it's been too hot to get outside before the sun starts to go down. I'm hoping if I plant something I like, even if it's just from seed, that'll help keep the weed population down?  I'm in zone 6/7.

  • Maybe creeping thyme? Some people have good luck with "Steppables".  Mine always die.

  • I love alyssum for something like that...tiny flowers that will grow pretty much any where.  They will spread like crazy but they are so pretty, so I don't mind!  I've seen pinks, purples and white.image
  • Do the sides of the raised beds go underground?  If not anything you plant around the pavers will be spreading into your gardens.  Pea gravel would be a good alternative.

Otherwise sedium (the groundcover varieties), creeping thyme, or creeping jenny would work in full sun locations.
