Travel in Chicago--2 part question

Hi ladies! I am an IN nestie but will be in Chicago in July. Here are my two questions:

I am going to a concert at Soilder Field--is the Palmer House Hilton walking distance? It is the closest resonabley priced hotel that the hotels.com is suggesting, but I just wanted to double check. If you have suggestions of a better place to stay please let me know!

Next question--I need to fly out of Midway the next morning and the cta website suggests I take the orange line from the palmer house right to midway. Is that safe? I am fairly comfortable with public transportation, but just wanted to double check.

TIA!

Re: Travel in Chicago--2 part question

  • The Blackstone would be a little closer but probably more expensive too.  You can for sure walk from the Palmer House if it's nice out.  It'd also be a cheap cab ride.  I take the orange line to Midway all the time. It's safe and easy....although I wouldn't take it alone if your flight is really early in the am...but that's just me.
  • thanks for the info! I'd be taking it about 9am on a saturday. does that seem too early?

  • Not at all, you'll be fine.
  • I agree with pp.  9 is fine to be on the Orange Line.  The line ends at Midway and will probably take you 25-30 minutes to get there.  Very easy!  Happy Travels!
