swingset ground cover help

Hi Ladies...

I wasn't sure where to post this but our yard is uneven and we need to  level it before installing the swingset - just trying to figure out what the best ground cover option would be once we've leveled everything...

any suggestions on what you've had experience with?

Re: swingset ground cover help

  • Are you wanting to plant it, like putting grass back on the area or something like mulch, chopped rubber, etc.?
  • This size is 17 x 15 and it calls for safety space of 27x26 and since we don't have that much space to "carve" out of our yard I was wondering if we were to level it off (it has a slight sloping to the area) if we could replant it this fall - which worries me because that means keeping our 2 year old off the play area until the grass has time to regrow and I'm not sure if that's realistic - I've never planted grass before..

so I guess I was wondering which would yield the best results?  I think mulch is our 2nd option with some kind of border like railroad ties

if we were to do either which steps do I need to take to make sure we have the best results?

  • What type of playset are you getting... ours the ground didn't have to be completely level but if you get the kind with the sandbox at the base you do...

To level our playset all we did was dig down where the footer was going.

  • Yeah I don't know how you're going to explain to a 2 year old that they can't run around their play set because the grass needs to grow lol. Maybe think about laying sod, or if you can bear something more time-intensive, plugs. They both will need time to set roots and water, but it would be significantly less time than waiting for grass from seed.
