Making your own cleaning solutions

Hi ladies! With a LO on the way, I'm interested in making my own cleaning solutions (bathroom, kitchen, etc.). Any recommendations or "recipes" that you use? Any other advice would be appreciated. TIA!!!

Re: Making your own cleaning solutions

  • I'm interested in this, also. I've made a pledge that when my current cleaners run out I'm going to refill the bottles with my own homemade ones.
  • 3 parts water, 1 part vinegar, a few drops of essential oil (I prefer lemon or orange) in a spray bottle. That will clean just about every surface. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant, so you should be good to go with that.

Some people use a mix of olive oil and lemon juice for wood furniture/floors, but I don't have the ratios for that one. My water is really hard, so I can get away with the vinegar/water mix on my floors and I use the Method wood polish once a month on wood furniture.

For deep cleaning you can make a paste of baking soda and a little water (or vinegar if it's really bad) and scrub away.

I haven't completely converted over to home concoctions yet... I'm using the Method line of cleaning products for everything except my floors.

Thank you! This is awesome. I knew I had seen them in someones siggy but wasn't sure who it was.
