Would it be crazy

for me to buy a crib when I'm not even pregnant nor do I know what I will have when I am pregnant?

There's one at Hissyfits Resale and it's GORGEOUS!! It's half price, still $300 but I LOVE IT!!

Am I crazy and is that a lot for a convertable crib?

  • I'll be the other side and say if you really love it and it is gender neutral, then go for it. Yes, there are always great deals, but if you have the money to spend now, then go for it. You'll have a nice big house to put it into soon too!

Also, if you did decide you didn't love it later, YOU could always sell it. If it is a pricey crib, the you'll still make some money off of it.

Oh and $300 is not a lot at all for a convertible crib. We paid a little bit more then that for Williams.

  • Girl... I own a petunia picklebottom boxy backpack... to me, this is not crazy, its OCD planning, which I am so on the train with you.

I do have to say, my diaperbag is at least gender neutral and was on clearance at Nordstroms.

I spent many years as a NYC nanny working for families in tiny, tiny apartments.  They all used those Pack 'n Plays with Bassinets on top.  I LOVE that.  SOOOO much cheaper, more compact, can be used with co-sleeping, and can travel with us.  When they get bigger you just put them in the main part and when they are big enough to climb out you put them in a regular bed.

I am EXTREMELY cheap.  I just can't justify getting a crib considering how much they cost!  And they take up so much space in the bedroom.

He laughed and told me I was funny! hahaha little does he know I am serious. But then he said....don't worry, we'll get a sick crib when the time comes. There are plenty of nice cribs out there.

Men don't get it! haha If I had a house, it'd be bought already but we don't have room for it right now. :-(

  • I wouldn't buy it, for safety reasons. There have been SO many crib recalls lately that there's a good chance this particular crib was recalled. :(

  • Ohhhhhh such a cute crib Stacy!

  • It sounds like a reasonable price for a convertible Smile I was always too worried I would jinx things so I never bought stuff before I got pregnant. But I think you should go for it :)

  • I personally wouldn't spend that much on a crib.  We (well, my mom) paid $170 for our crib AND mattress.  There are so many other things to buy and I'm cheap.  I'm also wary of buying used baby furniture, especially something as important as a crib.  Like PP said, there are so many recalls on cribs these days and it could be recalled before you have a baby.  Also, as nice as a crib looks, you definately want to research and read reviews on them before making a purchase.

It's never been used. It's still in the packaging.

I wouldn't say I'm cheap but I look for good deals. I will also be spending more on our babies than usual people (I think) to make sure everything is good and safe. (ie: an organic mattress so I don't have to worry about the chemicals they put on reg. mattresses, etc.) So, I'm ok with spending $300 I guess is my point. lol

  • Late to the party (as usual), but that is a beautiful crib! HOWEVER, I wouldn't buy it. I agree with some of the others that it just kinda feels like jinxing it. I'm not really superstitious, but I read on another board about how a woman didn't want to buy anything before she got pregnant because what if she never could? Of course I'm sure that you can get pregnant, but I know that if I was facing a long time of trying without getting preg, I'd be so depressed every time I saw the baby stuff I'd already bought.

Yeah, I hear a lot of people say that but I don't believe in jinxing myself. I've already bought stuff and I know my time will come so I'm not too worried about that. lol
