For The Baby on the Brainers...

Since this has come up a lot lately...

For those who are currently without children and not pregnant but have baby on the brain, spill it!  What have you already bought or are you hoarding for your future children?

Re: For The Baby on the Brainers...

  • I have almost a whole stash of cloth diapers, and ErgoBABY organic baby carrier, a Baby Bjorn carrier, and a bunch of clothes.  I'm a huge garage saler and I would just pick stuff up as I went while we were TTC.  And then a bunch of stuff I get for free through my blog.

I've actually pre-warned my BF about this.  I didn't want him to stumble upon a huge box of baby stuff (seriously, it's a HUGE box that's FULL!) and be like "WTF!!??"  Haha!

  • I haven't bought anything.  1) DH would think I'm nuts. 2) I feel like its bad luck, I'm kinda superstitious.

This does not mean that I don't spend hours online looking at baby things though.. Embarrassed

  • Surprisingly, I haven't bought that much.

I have a breastfeeding cover, 2 cloth diapers, 3 onesies.....

I can't think of the rest. I dont' have a ton, that's for sure. And I'd def. buy more but I'm trying to refrain until I am pregnant and know the sex. lol Then It's going to be like all hell broke loose.

  • I only have ONE thing...but it's totally ridiculous.

It's a mini stainless steel water bottle with sippy top - the bottle has pictures of astronauts and planets on it... It's freaking adorable, and considering my obsession of all things space, I hoarded it.  I see it every now and then when I look up in our pantry and smile thinking one day, ONE day, our little one will be able to use it.

  • I do not have anything, and I will not get anything until I am pregnant.  BUT, my favorite boards right now (besides this one) are the Baby Name board and the Nurseries board on the bump!  I love, love, love looking at other people's nurseries!  Also, my DH and I discuss names we like, so I always love reading about other people's baby names :-)

  • When I was first diagnosed with PCOS, to me buying stuff was like assuring myself that regardless of how, it would happen (we'd have a baby).  So far we don't have much but we do have:

    - a Petunia Picklebottom Boxy Backpack Diaper bag (I LOVE this and it was the perfect color combination, chocolate brown damask on baby blue) on clearance at Nordy's.

    - Some really pretty organic cotton burpies

    - two "pukies" blankets I got on mama's bargains, love the colors and they are the softest baby blankets ever!

    - 2 Disneyland onesies (they were on clearance and one is adorable, it has all the toys from toy story and says, "Toys are my best friend") and a Star Wars onesie (DH loves starwars).

    - A pack of diapers.  DH bought these for me for Valentines Day (it was like 10 days after my PCOS DX and I was doing adoption research and got really down in the dumps thinking we'd never have a family, and he gave those to me as a symbol that no matter what we'll be a family... it makes me teary thinking about it!)

My mom on the other hand has stuffed MY closet with baby clothes of both genders.  My favorite is this soft pink outfit that says, "I'm a wish come true" it makes me tear up just thinking about it.

Those two things make me smile.  =)

And P.S. - where did my aunt get that pink outfit??  I LOVE it!  And why haven't I seen it yet?  ;-)

I have no idea, she shops baby clearance racks EVERYWHERE!  It's in my closet up at her house =)  I'm sure if you asked, the next time she saw you she'd bring it with her.  It's adorable!

But i do have a ton of stuff from when i was a baby that my mom had saved for me. It's bookes, dolls, clothes, blankets my Grandma & great grandma made and some of it is somewhat gender neutral :)

  • I used to think buying stuff was bad luck but then my Mom pointed out that I'm going to have a baby at some point- through birth or adoption which ever one pans out first- so I may as well sweep up good deals when I get them!  So I used to keep them all in a Hope Chest and someday when I move I'll move them back into that.  It helps give me hope.

Oh!  I also got a Beaba Babycook at Good Will for $7.50!  I almost wet myself when I saw that... those are $150 new!!  And it looked barely used and works like a charm.  Best find ever!  I don't think Good Will knew what it was.
