Do you gals know of a good hair dye that isn't that harsh?

tia  PS  My hair is auburn/brown with blondish red highlights.

Re: Do you gals know of a good hair dye that isn't that harsh?

  • Have you ever tried Henna?  It's great for reddish hair!
  • I haven't!  I am interested, but a bit concerned about the possibility of it turning the greys blue, which I guess it can do.

  • I don't dye my hair, but a friend uses henna and apparently there was a brand of henna that she got in Portland that she can't get here in GA, and she isn't as happy with the color she gets from this new one. I'm not positive of the brands, but maybe ask around, because from what I understand, they are not all created equal.
  • TheCrunchyWife.com did a Henna review a couple of months ago.  You can check out her site and see if you can find it.

I actually just bought some myself and I'm going to try it for the first time in a couple of weeks.  I'll let you know how it goes!

  • I tried henna and loved it and used info from a woman doing her dissertation on henna. My review and link to the expert lady: http://moregreenforlessgreen.blogspot.com/2010/04/henna-hair.html

     Is it all-natural?

  • I have started using Naturitint on a regular basis (every 6-8 weeks) to color my hair at home and I really like it.  I believe the color I use is chestnut.  I have medium brown hair and this takes it to a darker brown.

You can buy it at Whole Foods or order it online.
