Re: HTC Evo.....

  • I will hopefully be the proud owner of one tomorrow!  It all depends on if Best Buy still has them in stock or if I'm going to have to wait 2 weeks for one.  That is the average wait around here for them.

  • Love it, Love it, LOVE IT!  4g is really fast, but the 3g is better than anything I've had before.  The internet is a breeze on it and I love all the features.  My fave is video chat.  On the beloved iphone, you can only chat with someone who has an iphone and you both must be on wifi, with EVO, I can use Skype either on the 3 or 4g network or through wifi.  It is awesome!  I'm soooo glad we stayed with sprint and didn't get in the iphone cult.  BTW- call quality is great too and it doesn't drop calls.

  • Impressive looking phone, but Sprints service is lacking.  A friend of mine has it, and she isn't happy with the call clarity and signal strength.  She is returning it.

  • I think it's too big and bulky. JMO, though.
  • I've had it since the day it came out.  I love it for the most part and I hope the Froyo update will fix my major issue with it.  I didn't realize before I got it that you could only install the apps on the built in 1 gb of memory- about half of this is taken up with system stuff.  The 8 gb (preinstalled, but can change out to up to 32 gb) SD card is for things like photos/music/app data.   If you download a lot of the larger apps you can run out of space on the internal part. This is a linux issue.

Size-   I've had no problem with it. It fits in my back pocket without a problem and I don't even notice it is there.

Coverage - it all depends on where you use it - some places certain carriers are better than others.  We jumped ship from verizon after 10+ years due to data plan costs, but up until this past year they were also the ONLY one that had coverage at home.    I get 4G coverage at work - it is quick.  I haven't had a problem with coverage anywhere I've used it so far.

Battery life- the first two days were horrible it would barely get through the day.  After it powercycled a few time (completely dead & fully recharged)  I get home from work with more than half the battery still charged.   There are some things that run in the back ground that you need to tweak - that will vary by what you are doing with it.  They did issue an update last night that is suppose to help with the facebook app draining the battery.   Google talk likes to sign itself in - you can change that.   Turn off the 4G if you are in an area that lacks coverage or you aren't actively downloading anything.  Turn the GPS & wifi parts off if you aren't using them.  There is a task killer built in, or you can download another one.  The android boards go back and forth on which is better.

Being able to do multiple things at once is great - txts come in while you are doing something else notification in the status bar - pull down respond.  Hit the back button and you are back to what you were doing.

Contacts - if you need to put new ones in you can skip typing them in on the phone and just update your contacts on gmail.  It also syncs with your facebook phonebook - it  also pull photos from your gchat buddy profies and facebook profiles - though it doesn't seem to update the photos when people change them - but I might not have it set to refresh.

Camera takes good shots - it is limited by the spacing for the optics - but they are good phone pictures.  Fxcamera is a fun app.  Uploading photos takes very little effort.
