Anyone have one of these litter boxes?

I am having problems with my cat peeing on things.  I think its when the box is full.  Right now I cant change her box and im not sure how often dh is cleaning it.  I was thinking of getting one of these type boxes for the bathroom (where we keep her box) then keep one more somewhere else in our home incase its because my other cat uses the box aswell.

These are the ones we are looking at

Re: Anyone have one of these litter boxes?

  • Make sure you take her to the vet to rule out an infection.

Some cats are afraid of automatic cleaning boxes and will refuse to go in them.

You can absolutely change the cat box as long as you are not nomming kitty poo, and are washing your hands afterward.

A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • I had a littermaid that I loved!  It worked for about 8 or 9 years before it crapped out.

I ditto the PP on taking the cat to the vet to rule out a medical condition first.

  • Could it be medcal if she is ONLY doing it when the box has stuff in it.  I can clean it out she will use it but once her or the other cat have used it more then 2-3 times she wont use it anymore.  Someone also said it may be that she wants her own box and not share one thats why I was going to leave the second one out aswell incase thats the reason.
  • If you are having problems, I would make sure to have at least two boxes, if not three. If your DH is being lazy about cleaning do it yourself.  Just make sure to wash your hands well afterward and as pixy said, don't eat the poo!

It is actually healthier for YOU to clean the box daily then for it to go uncleaned and for your cats to track feces through the house where the toxoplasmosis spores can then grow.  Just an FYI.

It could be just behavioral, but I don't like to take chances on UTIs.

I'd definitely get her another box.  General rule of thumb is to have one box per cat, plus one more.

Something else, make sure you're cleaning the areas she pees with an enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle.

Im off to get a second box now and see if thats her problem we have 2 cats so maybe we just need another box.  Right now we only have the one.  We got her a few mos ago and it started with in a few days to a wwek or 2 of having her.  For a little bit she had her own "box" and food area in a play yard so she could get away from our dogs and other cat untill she got used to them.  I think this started once we moved her area.  I do clean the stuff with Nature's miracle.

I would suggest you make an appointment with your vet too.  One of our kittens got one within a couple of weeks after we let her hang out with our other 2 kitties full time.

If it's behavioral, you might want to try Cat Attract litter and a Feliway diffuser.  We've had good luck with both.

I made an appt with the vet.  Its next week.  Her vet wants to see if the new box helps but still wants her in if it does not help.  I will try the cat attract the sales girl had told me about that aswell.
