That is the ONLY reason why I would go back to the 1st tri board...Just to tell them all I ate turkey without heating it up, a little bit of feta, had tuna sandwiches and a few sodas, and LO came out with all his fingers and toes LOL Stick out tongue

it is a common question on 1st tri. because lunchmeat/soft cheeses/soft ice cream can carry listeria (which can be harmful to the baby, but it isn't common) and tuna can have too much mercury (again all things in moderation)

I had a c-section, so not everything will relate to me. But the mesh panties are wonderful! At first I was a little skeptical, but they were heaven. And pretty cute too! And the squirt bottle for warm water was great. I didn't need to use it as much as those who had a vaginal delivery, but (kinda weird here) but it felt SO good everytime I did! Since the bleeding wasn't as heavy I didn't have to really use the extra long pads and I only bled for a couple weeks. But there are a whole lot of other problems from having a c-section.....

Would you mind going into more detail?  My mom had all three of us via c-section, and I am afraid I may have to too.

I had a c-section too and also only bled for a couple weeks. But my incision area was very painful. I didn't even get out of bed for almost 2 days after, though I wish I would have earlier. They encourage you to stand and walk as soon as you can but I just wasn't feeling up to it (I don't really remember why though Hmm ). It was hard for me to sit up or stand up and walk by myself even after I came home from the hospital. But after the first few days it gets a lot better a lot faster.

The first 2 weeks you can't do the following:

        - drive (which sucks when you have MIL driving you everywhere)

       - walk longer than 10-15 minutes at a time since your stomach muscles have been sliced through!

       - go up and down stairs more than twice a day

Other than that, it hurts to roll from side to side the first few days. Extremely painful to get up from a sitting or laying down position. Below your incision looks like someone filled your pubic area with a water balloon! However, after 2 weeks I felt great. Although my incision area is still a little numb, but I guess that is normal.

The plus is since you are open they pull all the gross crap out which severely decreases the amount of postpartum bleeding. AND your vajayjay is more normal after!

I totally forgot about the no driving! That sucked so bad

  • Oh geez....After reading all this I don't know why people want more than 2 kids....

Maybe it's not as bad as it sounds...but wow....I never knew about this bleeding or squirting your va-jay-jay with warm water...

  • Is it odd that after reading all this it only makes my baby fever "hotter"and or "higher"???  lol Huh?

This, except I didn't like the mesh panties. They snagged on my staples (sounds way grosser than it was - they came out on day 2 or 4, I can't remember. They didn't hurt, even when they were removed)

  • Boy howdy am I laaaaatttteeeee to the party, I will act like I sooooo have something to add, having 3 offspring and all :)

I'd say my healing with all was a little different-well duh...

Gman, I was such a young mama that my labor was easy peasy.  He came barreling down and in the blink of an eye he was there.  A wee bit of tearing and such, then a TON of bleeding forevah (at least 6 weeks).  Um, no sexy time here as I was a single parent.

Emster, that little stinker wouldn't come out!  Her pulses were dropping and they were getting ready to do a c-section.  I pushed a little bit more and in the blink of an eye--darn doctor went snip snip down there--oooh makes me a little mad now to think about it, not my plan stan--but she had to come out and it is better than the big C.  That healing was way worse, although who knows maybe I didn't remember too well.  Sexy time was probably 8 weeks later and not that great until probably she was 4 months.

LB-she came out super duper fast again, and I was thinking i just stretched, but the hubs said he went snip snip--man I'm losing my mind here...Anywho, the healing with her was easier.  I think that sexy time took almost as long for me to enjoy it--though I kinda think we did it more often lol.  (help the children are sucking away my brain)

I ditto on the peri bottle--lurve that!

I had a lot of those uterine cramps while nursing with LB--the nurses told me it was bc she is my third (and last!-hahaha).  Those cramps stunk in a big bad way sister--in fact I think they were the worst part of the post-partum aches and pains, but again I really only had them with my bambino :) Also, I'm not big on pain meds--they give you the 'good stuff' but that stuff wacks me out.

Oh and Dianna--your va-jay-jay does go back--I asked the hubs-and I've pumped out 3.  Go Kegels!

  • Peri bottle = heaven sent.

Tay: you know my wonderful birth story already. But I have these things to add.

    No driving freaking sucks.

I was so drugged up when I went home, I looked and felt like I belonged on Intervention for two weeks.

My first BM...was...well hell. It hurt almost as much as the contractions before my epi.

My scar is still a little numb, which you kinda get use to so when it becomes non-numb it's weird.

And also, because I half delivered before haing a c-section, my vajayjay was screwed up too, so I went through those super big pads in an hour. The first time I got out of bed I almost fainted after seeing all the blood on the bed. :(

I didn't do a sitz bath after giving birth; but I did do them when I had surgery on my back, and thinking back, it probably would feel pretty good.

I've had some pain issues during sexy time...but I'm weird like that.

    Have fun!! :)

  • im sooooo glad to hear that it goes back..hahaha

  • Ok, so I am a little late to this crazy party but I just read your comment Tay about your mom having 3 C-sections and you being afraid you'll have one too....

Don't even think / worry about that. Family history doesn't really mean anything.

I think every single women in my family dating back to when C-Sections were started had them, LOL! Every one! But me on the other hand, had all four boys come out of my va-jay-jay!!

And for me, the after birth experience wasn't bad at all. I was peeing / pooping on my own with no pain very quickly (like peeing with in an hour after he was born and pooping with in a day). I don't know, labor and delivery seem to fit me well. I wasn't sore for any amount of days. I loved my pee pee bottle, but mostly because it cleaned me up down there better then toilet paper alone, LOL! Oh and I was back to sex with in 3-4 weeks (bleeding wasnt long for me at all).

I guess my point is, you never know what is going to happen and everyone is so different. I didn't read an experience like mine in here, so I wanted to share it as well so you saw that the pain and uncomfortableness of your va-jay-jay and all that isnt always true.  Or maybe it is and I am just a baby making machine! LoL
