What laundry detergent do you use?

I love switching detergents once in awhile to get new soap smells.  I alternate between All and Tide with Febreeze in it at the moment.  What do you use?

Re: What laundry detergent do you use?

  • Because I was diagnosed with chronic hives back in 2006, my dermatologist told me to use All Free & Clear or Dreft (baby) for everything.  I love the scent of Dreft so I have been using that ever since.  Clothes smell so fresh to me.  Oh and I stopped using fab softener sheets all together.

I used to love Surf and Gain before that all started though.

  • Either Arm & Hammer free and clear or Purex free and clear. Too many allergies here for much else
  • I've been a loyal Tide user for years and I've used the Tide w/ Febreeze a lot.  I would like to try something organic though, so if anyone knows of any good brands please share!

I do love fabric softener though.  I am obsessed with Downy Simple Pleasures Turquoise Mist, very light and clean.  It makes me love walking in my closet because the scent perfumes the whole space.  Makes folding laundry slightly (just slightly) less annoying too :)

  • We use Seventh Generation - the free and clear stuff.  If Publix happens to be out of that, we'll get Tide free.  We also use Downy free fabric softener.

You might want to start using the "free" stuff for a while.  Babies can have really sensitive skin.  Rylie used to break out when someone would hold her that had used a certain detergent.  We wash everything in the house in the free stuff.  I have crappy skin too, so it is good for me, but I sure do miss my regular Downy!!!!

    Hehehe...sounds like me sometimes ;)

  • I'm not brand loyal with my detergent.  But I do get the version of the "free and clear" for whatever we buy
  • Method right now, but probably Purex Free and Clear once we run out. The Purex Free and Clear is relatively eco-friendly. Or you can make your own powdered detergent. I also always supplement with either Arm and Hammer laundry booster or Borax, esp. for sheets and towels and workout clothes.

  • All Free and Clear. I have been using this for several years and can't stand anything else. I can't be around smells and will break out in hives if other detergents are used. (Yes, I even broke out in hives during my honeymoon . . . sad but true.) Now I call the hotel and make sure they use scent free or their hypoallergenic stuff.
  • I use the seventh generation free and clear, although I've used the all free and clear too. My dog actually has super sensitive skin, so I figured it couldn't hurt to minimize the chemicals he's exposed to--when I wash his bedding and towels, of course, he's not actually wearing clothes. LOL

I still use Woolite on my delicates, but I'm honestly not sure it really makes a difference.

  • I use 7th Generation too.  It's vegetable based as opposed to animal based.  And I think they're a really reputable, responsible company.
