I wasn't paying attention to my hubs when he bought his camera, but apparently he actually bought the Sony Alpha DSLR A200. It's huge. I'm scared to touch it But he said that it does the same shots that you do for your professional looking ones with Gabe.
He wanted to know where you get your backgrounds? Like the gray one, the blue one, the brown one, etc...he's not sure if you're using sheets or what.
Re: OH! Cmeon....cameras :)
The Sony is great, too- honestly, it's not so much the camera body, as it is the selection of lens available to you, and your knowledge of how to work it's manual functions! Don't be scared- you'll learn quickly! I need to seriously work on a portfolio, and I hope you let me borrow Maddy and Zach as models! When I'm there, I can walk you through stuff, if you want!
I order seamless paper rolls from BHPhoto or Adorama- I've bought them from both. They are Savage brand (BH sells it cheaper, but, Adorama has their own generic brand that's around the same price, and sometimes has Savage colors BH is out of), and 53" wide- great stuff. I don't even use a stand (I sit the paper on the seat of a backwards facing set of chairs, and roll the paper up and over the backs and onto the floor. Easy as can be! They're around $20 a roll, but, shipping is another $10ish.
I would suggest getting a nice sized piece of plexi-glass from HD or Lowes, too- that's how I get the shiny reflections on some photos, but, I put it under the paper roll when I'm on carpet and don't want the reflection- it keeps the paper from wrinkling.
I just ordered Savage Blue Mist from Adorama this morning- it's a pretty blue that is discontinued, I think. We have Chestnut, Gulf Blue, Sage, Sand, and Ultra White, too. HTH!
They can be your models anytime! Hehehe.
I'll have to tell him to look into the paper. We were looking at prices for places like The Picture People and he almost had a heart attack because they were SO expensive. We would much rather make our own portraits and cards of the kids...like you do
