big fat VENT!

ok, my folks are on vacay right now (they come home today!) and while they are gone, they are getting their bathroom redone.  I have the delightful task of babysitting the workers while juggling the offspring and work.  Soooo, the tile dude was supposed to come on Saturday morning, he calls me for directions (I didn't have his number) and I tell him, my daugther is in the hospital and I can't come.  Can I call you to reschedule?

He says ok.  I call him on Monday and leave a message.  He doesn't call back.  So I call him yesterday and ask what's up?  He says-he is very busy and hasn't had time to come but maybe in the next few days. (pet peeve:  it bugs the boogies out of me when peeps don't bother to return phone calls when the message has a direct question or request) He called about 15 minutes ago and wants to come right now.  

I apologize, I can't go over there for 3 hours right now (hello, still juggling sick kids and have to pick up the parentals at the airport in a few hours).  I ask him if he can schedule something with them tomorrow or whenev?  He retorts that he is tired of my excuses and that he doesn't want to do the job anymore.  MY EXCUSES? Wha?!  Ya dude, I lied when I said my kid was in the hospital and when I called you again so you could make some money.  I am so mad! sososo peeved!

wow im sorry you have to deal with that. is he a licensed contractor?! i would def summit a complaint to the bbb or something. yeah, im that kinda person - customer service is big in my world haha.

I'm totally thinking about it.  I called their contractor guy and told him--and he goes 'well he's always been a nice guy' um ok dude, thanks for implying it's me not him.  ugh a dug ugh!

  He calls on short notice and just expects you to be available?  It's one thing if you had scheduled something else and had to cancel, but he called you wanting to schedule something spur of the moment that would be time-consuming, and you weren't available.

What an a$$.  I hope your parents didn't pay him anything!

I would totally give the job to somebody more appreciative. There is no reason to tolerate that kind of behavior from somebody.

 

The only reason he acted like that to you is because your a woman.  I am 100% positive that he would have a different tune if he had to deal with a man.

Sister, you are so right about the man v. woman thing!   

They will figure it out, I guess.  My pops is wayyyyyy laid back and he'll deal with them.  If it was me I wouldn't give the guy one red cent!
