Renting a Prius

We are traveling to Illinois in August, flying into Midway airport and would like to rent a prius.  Anyone have any tips on how to do this?  I thought Hertz rented them, but I am not have any luck on a verity of rental car websites.

Re: Renting a Prius

  • Our Hertz has them (and smart fortwo's!  Big Smile).  Did you use their search?
  • I googled and it looks like Avis and Budget might rent them.

  • We ended up with one as our rental car for our HM (good thing too, b/c we were in Yellowstone and drove all over the park in that car)...I want to say we rented through Alamo.
  • Don't rely on the websites; call and ask. DH always gets better deals (car, hotel room, etc.) when he calls and speaks to a person, even if "the website" didn't have it listed.

I agree with this, it's always better to talk to someone.

  • I hope you rent one, I am in love with mine.  Seriously, it's bordering on an unhealthy relationship.  I love love LOVE my 2007 Prius, by far the best car I've ever owned.  Recalls and all. I get 46 mpg on my bumper-to-bumper commute, which technically is a mix of local and highway but I only get up to highway speeds for a few miles.  The Prius fits 5 adults comfortably and has a huge trunk and the backseats fold flat (I've fit chairs, Christmas trees, and bikes back there).  The dashboard is very intuitive, I feel like all the buttons are right where they're supposed to be.  My iPod plugs right in. I can drive in the HOV lanes in most highways in VA.
