My birthday is coming up in 2 weeks, so my DH wants to get me a camera. (We lost the charger to our current camera during wedding mayham in Aug. and it will cost $80 to replace it which seems silly) We are looking to spend around $150-200. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what cameras we should look at, or what features we should be looking for. TIA
Re: XP: Camera Suggestions
What do you mostly take pictures of? As far as point-and-shoots go, I'm a big fan of Canon Powershots. They run around $150-$170. Sometimes, if you watch for deals (slickdeals.net = love), you can find them cheaper.
Look for cameras with IS--Image Stabilization, or the equivalent... Nikon calls it VR (Vibration Reduction) and so on. It just makes life lovelier.
If you're looking to get more hardcore than family/friends/vacation photos, consider going SLR! They cost more, but if you're into photography, they're worth it! You can get good deals on refurbs on eBay. And if you don't get the absolute, top of the line, newest of the new model, you get a HUGE discount for a camera that's still pretty damn fancy pants.
