What are your plans?
I have a friend coming down from Chi-town with her DH, baby and mother. We are keeping it chill, although we may check out the fireworks in East Peoria/Peoria or go to Morton to avoid the crowds. We'll see after eating and how drunk we are It's not all about the baby
Re: 4th of July
We will be having family over to our house for chili dogs and our American Flag drinks. Then we will head down to Red White and Boom downtown Davenport on Saturday. Then back to our house for sparklers and card games. It should be a great night!
If you have not tried the new local mix - Irish Dog Bloody Mary mix check it out. I am using it to make chili with this weekend. The recipe is on their website and it just rocks!
We went to Missouri to visit our families and nearly wish we hadn't. Our hometown fireworks were Saturday night. Sunday night we went to the town 20 minutes away and watched their display, which was coordinated with a radio station that played patriotic music during the show. It was kind of cool.
But now we're back and happy. I missed my house. And my bed. And my pillow.
I wouldn't mind living closer. When we were in Columbia, MO for college, our families were 100 miles away. They could come up to visit for the day and return home in the evenings. It was nice. Now we're ~6 hours away and have to stay with them.
Missed this post the first time around...
We went camping at Lake MacBride for a night (the only one it didn't rain here luckily). Then we watched the fireworks over the old capital building in Iowa City.
I feel the living far away from your parents. We're ~9 hours from both of our parents (or a $500 flight). Too bad Michigan's economy is horrible right now...
