I just wrote this email and thought some of you may have some of these things you might be willing to donate (I work at a middle school in Kissimmee and am the sponsor of National Jr Honor Society)
I am in need of some donations for a community service project I'm
working on for school. If you have any of these things you are willing
to donate (I know we decided to get a bigger tree this year but I
already gave away my old tree before knowing about this project) please
let me know... they do need to be in good condition because we will be
spreading some holiday cheer in December. If you donate the I promise I
will keep them and use them for this community service project
yearly.... nothing will be wasted. (We will be using them at Give Kids
the World- we currently decorate one villa for the holidays but I'd
like to expand to two if we can get more items...) I can come and get
them from you wherever you are...just let me know!! Thank you!

Re: Donations needed...
Have you thought about contacting Wal-Mart or other stores? I regularly do fundraising for my church and all I do is write a letter stating what I plan to do with the money and what organization it is for and show up at 7am on the 1st of the month at wal-mart (you can call them for more info). Every single time I have gone I have walked away with a gift card in hand.
Target always tells me no, but I have gotten donations from Walmart, Albertsons, Publix, and Big Lots.
all for-profit companies do donations of some sort for tax deductions. The reason for the signs is that you can't walk into the store and ask for donations, you have to call and talk with management or the appropriate person. Places like walmart actually have a person over charity and each store gives away x amount of money (based on size and location I think) on the first of each month. That's why you have to show up at the crack of dawn . Target says no because they are involved with so many national charity organizations already. I have heard they donate to some school requests though.
Target does a lot -- but their system is more complicated and/or grant like. My theatre comapny has gotten several thousand dollars for children's programming and what not.
We also have luck getting gift cards at several stores when we need raffle items.
Again, I dislike Wal-Mart with a passion . . . but some stores are great about giving to charity.
?
HAHA I agree with you 100%. ? I cannot stand shopping there but I will gladly make sure everyone knows they support my church with regular donations. ??
