Gluten-free

Hello all~

My DH was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance a couple of weeks ago. He feels amazingly better since the diagnosis, but of course our diet is a bit more limited than before. When we go out to eat, we have discoverered Bostons has gluten free pizza as well as BJs brewhouse and PF Changs has a pretty generous gluten-free menu. Other than that, we haven't really found any other places that cater to his needs...and we hate to order a meal that appears gluten-free because it may have been contaminated/been prepared with something that has wheat.

Anyone else have this issue? Know of any local places that have a gluten-free option?

Re: Gluten-free

  • You should try reading The G-Free Diet by Elizabeth Hasselbeck.   I was diagnosed with celiac disease 6 months ago and it really helped me figure out how to cope in all of the situations that can arise!  And every day I find more and more!  And the main thing I've learned eating out is to never just take the waiters opinion on wether things are gluten free. Always have them check the ingredients, let you check them, or speak with the chef.  I was embarassed to do it at first but now I find most of the time they are not surprised by the questions and have heard it all before.  Hope this helps!

  • A late reply to you but I know that Macaroni Grill has a gluten free menu as does Houlihans and Paloma Blanca. Paloma will even give you GF chips. Little Aussie Bakery is completely gluten free as well and a great place to buy bread and all the common things your DH might miss. One of my good friends is GF and she also likes Quicksand. They're really great about preparing foods separately so there's no cross contamination.
