ATHENS, Ga. - University of Georgia President Michael Adams will address the media Tuesday afternoon about the now vacant athletic director position.
It comes a day after he accepted the resignation of former athletic director Damon Evans following his DUI arrest.
Evans was arrested for DUI last Wednesday and accused of trying to convince the officer to let him go.
He also had a female passenger in the car and allegedly a pair of woman's underwear in his lap.
Evans tendered his resignation on Sunday and Monday, the university's athletic board voted unanimously to accept it. Evans will receive three months severance on his more than half million dollar salary along with a $100,000 longevity bonus.
No successor has been named to take over the vacant athletic director position.
Names like Greg McGarity, Carla Williams and Frank Crumley have been tossed around as possible candidates for the AD position.
McGarity was an assistant athletic director at UGA before leaving for a job in Florida. Williams and Crumley are both senior associates in the UGA's athletic department.
There is no word on when a final decision will be made.
