How was your holiday weekend?

Re: How was your holiday weekend?

  • My weekend was great. I had a cake order due on Monday so I worked on the decorations Saturday/Sunday.  The 4th was nice, we BBQ'd at my IL's and watched the illegal fireworks going off around the neighborhood.

Yesterday was spent relaxing at home (ahhh!) and we got our first egg from our hens!

  • hello there :)

our weekend felt really long - in a good way! Friday DW and I both got out of work early, we enjoyed some alone time and a lovely nap.  Then we picked up the kids from daycare and brought Sprout to Parents Night Out while the girls went out for dinner and some shopping.

Saturday we spent the morning doing yardwork. It felt awesome to finally get the gardens weeded and I got mulch delivered.  In the afternoon we went swimming at my parents' pool and visited w/ my brother and his GF who were up from DC.

Sunday we met up with all of them again for breakfast at a farm.  It was lovely but HOT HOT HOT.  the plan was to pick blueberies after breakfast but we retreated to the pool instead.  Everyone took a late nap and we went to a 4th of july festival w/ fireworks in the evening.  Sprout LOVED the fireworks (it was his first time seeing them) and Rosebud slept right through them Stick out tongue

Monday morning I was solo w/ the kids while DW went into work.  We found a new playscape but only lasted about 15 minutes there since, again, it was so stinking hot.  So, we moved onto the kids museum we have a membership to and it was the perfect place to escape the heat. After nap it was back over to my parents' house for a picnic (and more pool time).

  • We had a nice weekend. We spent time with family, watched the fireworks, ran some errands and just tried to relax and enjoy our long weekend.
  • Friday - the usual - grilling and watching Friday Night Lights

Saturday - the kids were up ridiculously early (5:40) and we were on the community tennis courts by 7:15. It was so nice out! L and I hit balls for the first time in years, Gray hit some balls, and Carter rode his scooter around the courts and picked up our stray balls (no one else was there!) The kids took a 3 hour nap ( ) and then we went for a late lunch/early dinner and went for a late swim. We ended up with kids falling asleep in our bed since our town was shooting their fireworks and we couldn't convince them that it wasn't thunder.

Sunday - We went to the mall to walk a few miles before they opened. After the kids (and we) took a nap, we made peach ice cream, went to the pool for a few hours, and then all of us cuddled in bed to watch the DC fireworks on tv. The neighbors fireworks outside my kids window kept them awake for awhile, but 2.5 hours of swimming is exhausting! We tried to watch Invictus - but found it painfully slow and turned it off.

Monday - the kids slept till 7:30 (HOLY MOLY!) We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then to walk a few miles at another mall. the kids got new Buzz/Woody pajamas. I tried to find heavy cream to make another batch of ice cream - but 3 stores later, I gave up. We were going to go to the pool again, but we were all tired. We grilled, the kids played in their pjs, and we cuddled in bed to watch their newest obsession - Scooby Doo.

It was a great weekend. L didn't do any work, the kids took great naps, we were all in a good mood, we all had a great time at the pool, and we got some exercise!

  • We spent Saturday at my parent's, did a race sunday and basically chilled the rest of the weekned. a little shopping. I blogged a little. it was nice and relaxing.

  • It was a really nice weekend, even though ours was pretty much just two days (C worked until 3 yesterday).

We went grocery shopping and drove around doing a little exploring - found a local lake/park that look wonderful! - and got went out for ice cream.  We also went to the mall for the first time with Henry - we went during his nap, and as long as we kept the snap n go moving, he stayed asleep - so C got a lot of exercise! LOL I was looking for nursing bras and bigger tshirts, since all my tops are too small with my new big nursing boobs - didn't find any bras, but I did find shirts, and with the 4th of July sales, everything was really cheap!

  • Saturday....K got a coat of paint on our deck while I entertained Jelly Bean and cleaned the house...oh! And then a social worker came over to do our home study for the adoption.

Sunday....a few friends came over for a BBQ. It was low key but nice.  Afterwards we went out to watch the fireworks.

Monday....consisted of running errands and lounging around the house.

  • It was great but felt too short! We went blackberry picking on Saturday and it was such fun. There were a ton of people out. We brought my mom a big pile of berries and checked out her new (super-cute) place. I'm nursing a sprained ankle so Sunday, E surprised me by going to the garden and working in the heat so I wouldn't have to. Then we went off to a friend's bbq. Yesterday, we went shopping, saw a fabulous movie, A Matter of Size, and ate some seriously bad greek food.
  • it was lots of fun but very busy! I took the day off on Friday and we went and played a round of disc golf and went to the conservatory, then we had dinner out with my SIL for a late birthday celebration for her, a cookout on Saturday, fireworks on Sunday, and lots of errands and stuff around the house on Monday. yesterday I was crazy busy at work trying to get caught up, though, because of the extra long weekend.
