Blog Question for my Sister

Hello Ladies,

My sister is trying to get her blog up and running but she had a couple questions and i wasn't sure how to answer them so i thought i would ask you wonderful ladies...

Her first qurestion is how can you adjust the privacy settings, she is going to post pictures of my niece on there and she doesn't just anyone to be able to see them, so how can she make it where just her followers can read her blag and see the pictures?

The second question is, she wants to change up the font but she doens't like any of the options blogspot gives her.  She would like  Lucida Handwriting.  do any of you know how to get a different font that they don't offer on there?

TIA from both me and my sister =)

Re: Blog Question for my Sister

  • For the privacy settings:

Go to Settings, then Permissions. Choose "Only People I Choose" She can then email the people she wants to give permission to.

    :)

  • She can make her blog private and only have people she invites to her blog read it. As for the font, I am not sure on that one since I haven't tried to change mine. And this is on blogger.

  • Is blogger the same as blog spot?

  • Changing the font to what she wants will be a little more time intensive.

You have to edit the HTML, find all the places where it has a font name and change it. In the current HTML, there will be a list of different fonts, make sure to keep some of those in case a computer doesn't have the font she has chosen. And always end with "serif"

    Does that make sense?

  • yes it is - but it looks like you already have your answer for her :)

  • I knew it ahah! Ok. let me try this again.

Go to the Deisgn tab, then to the HTML page. In the HTML code box, you can do CTRL + F and type in "font" or "text". It should look something like this:

    <Group description="Body Text" selector=".body-fauxcolumns-outer">

         <Variable name="body.font" description="Font" type="font"

default="normal normal 13px Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif" value="normal normal 13px 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, sans-serif;"/>

So that bolded part up there will be changed to Her font name, Arial, Tahoma, FreeSans, sans-serif'

This needs to be done to all areas where it says font names.

    Better?

I confused myself a little bit. When you do CTRL + F there will be a little pop up box that you type "font" or "text" into. That finds all those words in the HTML so you don't have to search for them.

And always preview before saving. :)

  • Awesome, thank you....

Samantha - I put it on FB but I just thought I would say Happy Birthday.... welcome to the quarter century club!!!!!
