Anyone else have Directv?

I am getting really fed up with them. We have never had a problem with the actual service... we don't often lose our signal and our equipment works way better than our TWC stuff did... however, their billing SUCKS.

A few months ago I was getting phone calls and emails telling me that I needed to upgrade my equipment or we would lose our local channels. Everything said it was a free upgrade blah blah blah.. so I called and had someone come out and they switched our receivers out.

The following month I get my bill and they have started charging me $5.99 a month for their protection plan. I didn't notice it on the previous month because it was prorated and only like $2. I called and told them they needed to remove the charges and they told me that because a tech was sent to my house that I either had to pay the $5.99 a month or it would charge my account around $50 for a tech visit. I got pretty angry, talked to a few different people and got the coverage cancelled  plus they were giving me a $5 month credit for 3 months to compensate for what I had already paid.

This morning I get my bill and there is this:

Protection Plan Cancellation    10.00

WTF?!? They are charging me $10 for cancelling something I never even effing signed up for. When I get back from my drs appointment I am going to start looking in to different TV options. I am ticked. Angry

Sorry... that was very long.

  • We didn't have to do any upgrade to keep our local channels. We haven't had any problems with them at all. We do pay for the protection plan but with a toddler who is always kicking the box and pushing all the buttons on it I feel like we need it

Do you have HD service already? They are doing away with the standard DVR's in this area and going to all HD DVR. Even though we don't pay for HD service, we had to have an HD box because they were changing the way the local channels come in down here.

I know one of our boxes is HD but the DVR one is not
