what size diapers is LO in?

Alex is still not PT and it might be awhile...anyways, he is in size 4s and I visited my friend this past weekend....her 17lb 6mo. old is also wearing 4s! I thought that was weird and she thought Alex must be in too small of diapers.

  • Davis has been wearing size 4 since he was 9 months old.  He is 23 lbs right now, but he was wearing size 4 when he was around 17/18 lbs.

  • We just moved Jake up to size 5's, he was over soaking the 4's at night
  • My DD wears size 5s (almost 2).  When she was 15 months old she wore size 4.  I visited a friend with had a DD who was 3 1/2 who just recently got out of diapers.  She had size 4s left and my friend couldn't believe that they would wear the same size.  But really they fit them both - I think it just depends on the kid, the diapers and how they are shaped.  My DD is much more stockier than her DD.

I would just enjoy the fact that the smaller sizes are cheaper!

  • J2 is in 4s right now.. he is 25 lbs, and has been wearing them since about 17 or 18 lbs. If you arent having issues with leaking or overwetting then I see no problem in him wearing size 4s

  • Both of my girls wear a size 4. Technically the 5s fit Skyler too, but she doesn't wet through the 4s and they aren't uncomfortable for her so I see no point in buying two different sizes. Charli has been wearing a 4 for a long time now too. .... and yes, Skyler is STILL not PT either .... stubborn child.
  • Same as everyone else...size 4 since about 17/18 lbs.  They still seem to fit him fine at 13 months!
  • Abby was 18.5# at her 1 yr. check up and she is in size 3's.

I started PT Addison at 2.5 exactly and she was in 4's then. She was fully PT by the time she turned 3 but I don't think she was ever in size 5 diapers.

  • R is in 4's and has been for a while.  He's just starting to leak out of them at night, so I'll probably buy 5's next.  He's 25-ish pounds (I'll find out for sure at his 2 year check up on Monday)

Davis has been wearing a 5 in overnight diapers for a few months, I've always gone up a size at night.

A is 8 months old and is just finishing up her last pkg of size 1's and will be moving to a size 2.  At the docs last week, Tuesday, she was 12 lbs, 3oz.
  • It all depends on the shape, I think. Charlie is tall and skinny and he can still wear 3s.

  • Jeff was in 4's FOREVER, for well over a 1 1/2 years I know that for sure.  He wears 5's at night now because I don't trust him with staying dry at night, even though he is 95% of mornings.

  • We just put TJ in size 3's 2 weeks ago. He was 15lbs 6.5oz at his doctors appointment which was at 4 1/2 months. Hopefully we are in these for a little while!! Having to go up a size in diapers makes him seem so big!!

Along with the topic of diapers, what about clothes? TJ is going to be 6 months on the 25th and a few weeks ago I went out and bought a bunch of new clothes that were 6-9 months. I swear they shrunk like crazy because some of them seem almost too tight. I dont think he's growing that much but I'm just not sure whats going on. I just bought these and don't really feel like going back out to buy 12 month clothes but I may just have too. Any suggestions when it comes to buying clothes for babies??

we use disposables at night or when we will be away from home most of the day

  • nbecker,

It depends on the brand I think....and you never know he may have grown....I always try to buy bigger than what I think he may need...if they are a little big its not as disappointing as if you buy clothing that is just too small.

Monk is just too big for 12 mo stuff, but his 18 mo stuff is slightly big. We work with it.

  • KP was completely potty trained right after she turned 3, but at that point she was in 4's.  PJ is, obviously, only in size 1/2 but he's only 11 weeks old....

  • C is 20lbs and is in size 3. B was potty trained at 23 months and I for the life of me can't remember what size she finished out in. It was either 4s or 5s but she would have been in 5s for just a very short while.
