CFL mommies...laundry question.

I washed some of Zach's clothes last night and put them into the dryer...and they just would NOT dry.  There were maybe 10 items in there in total (onesies, pants, socks) and I first did it on the "very dry" cycle...didn't dry them.  Switched it to the timed heat cycle for 30 minutes...didn't dry them.  Turned the dryer on AGAIN this morning and they were finally kinda-sorta dry, but felt weird because they didn't dry properly.

Am I supposed to jam my dyer full of stuff to dry these baby clothes??  I assume that maybe they didn't dry because they were so little and light?  I have no idea...

Re: CFL mommies...laundry question.

  • That is VERY strange.  The less stuff you have, the quicker it should dry.  Have you ever tried those dryer balls?  Maybe those would help????

  • That sounds like a problem with your dryer - I put two onesies, a sleeper and a pair of overalls in last night and they were dry in 20 minutes.
  • I agree with Mrs.TBC - that sounds like an issue with your dryer. Didn't you have some trouble a while ago with it?
  • Have you cleaned your dryer vent recently? Not just the vent in the dryer, but also the duct that leaves the dryer and goes outside. If that becomes clogged with lint, your dryer won't work properly.

  • Yes, we had problems with it a few months ago where it wouldn't dry anything.  Paul bought some sort of a dryer vent cleaner, so I'll see if I can get him to snake the line.  Stupid dryer :(
  • I had the SAME problem with our dryer (came with my DH) :-) and I found that someone had move the dryer at some point and squished the metal line in the back of the dryer. So even though the vent inside the dryer was clear, on the back of the dryer that metal tubey thing was stuffed where the kink was.

I bought a new metal thing and clasp for $10 or so at Lowe's and hooked up it, and problem solved.

     GL!!  :-)
