OMG S/O of Pet Peeves Post

This girl on my team has been popping and smacking her gum ALL.DAY... and this isn't the first time she has done this....

How do i make her stop! lol i mean what is the nicest way possible to say... You are driving me BSC wth that hideous noise you are making with your mouth! 

lol sorry to be a negative nelly on this one but it just drives me bonkers!

  • Make HR do your dirty work!  We had a girl in our office that sneezed so freakin' loud, it seriously would make you jump out of your seat.  And it wasn't the just sneeze part, it was the end she would draw it out so long!  We all got so annoyed, especially since we're trying to make sales calls, so someone told HR and they talked to her about it.  She had no clue who "tattled" on her, but she stopped!!!

  • Hmmm, if it were at my office, I would talk to her myself. But then again we use 360 degree coaching everyday, which basically means if you are constructively coached on something...then you have to accept it.(360 degree) To me this is a lack of common sense on her part!

    As a manger, the first thing I ask when people come with a complaint about someone else (unless it's sexual harrassment or making an unsafe/hostile work environment), is, "well, have you spoken to them?"

    IMO, going straight to HR over something small is disrespectful to that individual, and can backfire on you and your reputation in the company.

    Yea, i guess i just need to talk to her when she is not doing it... you know at 6;00 im the AM when we first get there because it drives me crazy to listen to it all day. and in my office they are big on have meetings with all involved parties so we can "express our feelings in a safe environment"  umm no thanks i just want her to stop...

    I'm thinking if it doesn't stop after you speak with her...she may be doing it without noticing...(habit)
