Right!? I talked to my manger about it last week and then later that day she was smacking her gum too...
This.
As a manger, the first thing I ask when people come with a complaint about someone else (unless it's sexual harrassment or making an unsafe/hostile work environment), is, "well, have you spoken to them?"
IMO, going straight to HR over something small is disrespectful to that individual, and can backfire on you and your reputation in the company.
Yea, i guess i just need to talk to her when she is not doing it... you know at 6;00 im the AM when we first get there because it drives me crazy to listen to it all day. and in my office they are big on have meetings with all involved parties so we can "express our feelings in a safe environment" umm no thanks i just want her to stop...
Just keep it short and sweet.
" Sarah, don't get me wrong, I LOVE to chew gum...but hearing it popped, or chewed is one of my weird quirks!!"
I'm thinking if it doesn't stop after you speak with her...she may be doing it without noticing...(habit)
Thanks I will try and speak with her tomorrow and see how it goes...
If talking to her doesn't work, switch her gum out with the kind that makes your breath stink...lol
