Short Hairstyle for Me?

I think I want to do something drastic with my hair!  I really need an easier style now that I have a baby.  My hair is sooooo long and soooo thick that it takes forever to wash, dry, flat iron and style.  I just don't have time for it.  I haven't had short hair since Haley was a baby (9 years ago) and I absolutley HATED it, but I really didn't go asking for a certain cut or style and those were before the days of my flat iron so I'm thinking maybe I could like a short do now.  I have an oval face, so supposedly any length/style is supposed to look okay on me.  I'm thinking something like this:

Be honest...if you have seen me in person or any pics of me...how do you think this would look on me?  Or, please suggest something that you think would work better.  TIA!!!

Re: Short Hairstyle for Me?

  • Here is a pic of me with my current style (except I usually wear it straight):

  • ooo, you have some gorgeous hair, girl!!! i definitely think you could pull off that hair cut! i think it would look great on  you!
  • I think that style would look great on you. Your hair is so shiny! I've had a hairstyle really similar to the one you posted and it was great. Easy to dry and easy to style. You'll save so much time with shorter hair.

  • I think that cut would look great on you!  You have beautiful hair.

But let me just say - if you are cutting it short for convenience, know that every short haircut I've had has been MORE work than long hair.  You can always throw long hair back or into a ponytail, and with shorter hair you always have to fix it.

  • I like it, and I think it would look good on you!!! Although I might be partial because we have the same color hair and similar face shapes and that's the hair cut I have (but with bangs).

My personal biggest problem with my hair being so dadgum thick and strong-willed is that it takes a lot of time and effort to get it to fall into place the way I want it to. I have to use like, 3 different products, a flat iron, and enough aerosol hairspray to cause global warming to get it to do what I want it to.

If you're looking for a change, maybe you could just cut some layers into it or something? I don't know about yours, but my hair is naturally curly so when I've had layers in it and let it air dry, it has this great, natural "on purpose" look.

    gmo :)

  • i love that hair! i think it would look great on you monica...
  • You and Jen have similar bone structures, so I think that style would look nice on you.  Maybe spice it up with some highlights and lowlights.  Just make sure it's long enough to pull back.  I chopped off my hair a while ago and it took more work because I HAD to style it every day.
  • I think it would look fab on you!  I was thinking about chopping mine too, but I so love being able to throw it in a ponytail!!
  • I think it would look cute on you!
    Siggy coming soon....
  • Annie....I'd love to see a pic of you since you say we have the same color & face shape and you have that cut!  I tried going to your blog, but couldn't.  Can you post a pic of yourself with this cut?
  • Good point, ladies, about it possibly being more work since I'd always have to style it and not be able to throw it in a pony tail.  If I do get the cut, I'll make sure to tell the stylist to leave it long enough to pull back!  I definitely have plenty of days where I'm not able to fix it and have to pull it back...or sometimes I'll throw a visor on.
  • Sure!! This is from the gtg last weekend:

and this is from a few weeks before that... it's grown out a bit!

It's a little bit shorter than Jen's, but it's the same idea!

  • I think it's a very cute haircut, but I would personally want to make sure it's long enough to pull back too.

Also, I have to say... I've always been jealous of your hair! I would die to have super long shiny hair like that!

So cute!  I love it!  Now, let's see if I can get up the courage to actually do it!

Aww...you're sweet!  Thank you!  It's alot of work to make it look good though.  Not so great when you have a little one!

  • Thanks girlie!!! You can do it! Having a fresh start and a change like that always makes ya feel so much better :)

  • I had that haircut, except just a tad shorter about 8 or 9 months ago, but I let it grow out and now I want it back.  It was more work than I thought it would be just because I did have to straighten it everyday for it to look right. I think I will get it again and just make sure it is long enough to pull back.  I think it will look really good on you.

Very cute!  You'll definitely have to do it daily, but it may still be faster than what you do now.  It'll look gorgeous on you!

  • girl....I say go for it!  If it turns out that you don't like it....it will grow back!  I think it would look very cute on you :)
