Next month I'm throwing an 80's theme bday party for DH. I've never been to one but I am very excited about it. I've seen suggestions for this theme on this board before so I thought you all might be able to help me out. I have a few ideas such as getting old toys from SIL and using old music/movie posters as decorations. I think I'm going to add something to the invitations that say costumes are welcome but not expected since some people might not like to dress up.
Do you guys have any other ideas for things that might make it a little more memorable? (Such as foods to serve, decor, cute invitation wording, etc) Thanks!

Re: 80's Party Ideas
You could make a cake to look like a rubik's cube.
Set out pop rocks on the cake table, along with real rubiks cubes.
I am throwing a 90s party tomorrow and I've renamed all my food to reflect something from the 90s (like Savage Garden Salad). I even made tags to label everything. So you could do something like that. Or even cook things from that time. Here is a good place to start.
Go for color in your decor. Neon colors, pink, purple... tie dye! I like the poster idea. Do NOT worry about matching
Make a Cds with all 80s music to be played throughout
If it's inside, you may even want to play an popular 80s movie in the background.
Or you could play an 80s trivia game even
You could pass out slap bracelets as favors.
If you have a Polaroid camera, you could pull that out too!
Have fun!!
