Hey all! I'm hoping you can help me with an etiquette question so i don't offend anyone.
I'm putting together escort cards for a client and i need to make one for 2 SS couples. One is for 2 men and the other for 2 ladies. Both couples are married.
So, what is the appropriate way to address the cards?
Mrs. and Mrs. A hyphenated last name OR Mrs. A last name and Mrs. J last name on separate lines.
Thanks!
Re: Etiquette question
Well hello darling! How are you?
Do you know if the couple actually hyphenates? If they do then by all means hyphenate. If they don't then I would list each individually. I don't think anyone will be offended either way. You should see some of the cards we get addressed to us!
The social worker who came out to do our adoption homestudy had problems figuring out how to do her report since she would have listed us both as Ms.A. I told her I generally use Mrs. So in our paperwork I'm Mrs.A and K is Ms. A.....anyway...off topic....Hope to see you at a gtg soon!
Hi!! I'm great lady, busy but great!
How is your little nugget? I love the Cali photos!
Yes, the list shows it hyphenated, but i couldn't get in touch with the bride to ask. Today is rehearsal day and she is running all over the place.
But, can i write... Mrs. and Mrs. A and J hyphenated last name?
If the list shows hyphenated, I think that is fine.
We get a lot of variations, but as long as we're on the same line I don't care. Only b/c I know the etiquette about seperate lines so I mind that! (and regardless, its not something I would stress over, and DW would NEVER notice)
i vote yes!

I agree with the other ladies, if they hyphenate I'd address it as Mrs. and Mrs. Last-Name (or Mr. and Mr. Last-Name for the men). You could use Ms. and Ms. Last-Name for the women, but I for one certainly wouldn't be offended either way--and I must admit I, personally, get a little thrill at seeing the Mrs.
I would do this, only b/c its what I would prefer and I love seeing Mrs. & Mrs. too.
If you see a hyphen, hyphenate away! Hyphens are fun.
We're not a SS couple, but it always irritates me a little (just a little though) to be called Mrs. H instead of Mrs. H-B. More so because my partner's last name was already hyphenated and I dropped mine so I was never Miss H. or Miss B- I was Miss F. You never know
