need OB/GYN Rec

I am new to the area and just found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant. I am looking for recommendations for OB/GYNs.

Also, which hospital did you deliver at and what factors did you consider when making a decision?

Thanks!

Re: need OB/GYN Rec

  • Where do you live?  It's a big city :-)

  • I like Michele Francis, on the west side. She's associated with St. Luke's Roosevelt hospital, where they have a birthing center. But i don't have kids and i'm not pregnant and i've only been to her once. But she's nice!!

Both live and work in Manhattan. Would prefer a doc in either the UWS or UES.
  • I recommend Lexington OBGYN.  Dr. Schweizer and Markoff are my favorite.  Dr. Ho is very good, but she's not as warm as the others.  I'm not a big fan of Dr. Shah.  I delivered twice at NYU.  The delivery rooms are very nice.  The recovery rooms aren't the nicest in the city, but honestly none of the NYC hospitals are great in that department.  The L&D and recovery nurses were great.
  • I was a pharmaceutical rep for OB/GYN's so I personally know many OB's in manhattan.  So since I pretty much know each and every OB on midtown east... I HIGHLY recommend Elizabeth Stein on 36 E36th.  She's the most thorough practioner I have ever met.  I like her so much that although I live in Staten Island I will continue to travel and use her as my OB and choose to deliver in Manhattan.  She's a NP and a midwife and she is meticulous.  I also recommend Miriam Greene on 34th/1st ave.  She's on Doctor Radio on XM, so you can hear her show if you'd like to get a glimpse of her personality.
