Nikon D5000

I am thrilled, I just go the Nikon D5000.  Does anyone else have it? If so do you have any advice?  I have never owned an SLR before.

Re: Nikon D5000

  • We have the D3000, which is the same as the 5000 without live view and movie mode.  I got this book and it has been really helpful at explaining what all the features are for.  I'm sure they make one for the 5000 too.  I've also been referring to this website as well.

I have one. I've noticed that auto focus is slow when you have the screen on. If you want to be able to shoot a lot and quickly. just look through the viewer and not the screen.
  • i have Nikon too and love it very much!

I've also read that using live view drains your battery much faster than using the viewfinder.  We opted for the d3000 because of this.  We didn't think live view and movie mode was worth the extra cash.
