Re: produce saving/storing debbie meyer green bags?

  • I use them and think they work well, but I'll be watching for other educated opinions about their true greenness...........

  • I use them over and over. They seem to work very well at extending the life of produce.

  • I know a couple people who've had good results with the bags, though I think their effectiveness runs out after a while.

When they first came out, I tried the Green Boxes because they're more reusable, and they were horrible. I mean, I guess my food didn't go bad, but this terrible plastic smell and taste permeated everything and spread through our whole house when I took food out of it. Also, you have to wipe the condensation out of them every day or your food will go bad. I returned them after testing them out for a week.

  • I've been using the bags now for about a week and a half and really like them so far. I randomly bought them at whole foods and then DH scared me into thinking they might be harmful. glad you guys use them too! I was running out of ideas for how to store my CSA veggies in the fridge, since they don't come in anything. if anything the bags are preventing my fridge from getting dirty, and keeping things neat and organized!  I also think they are definitely helping with keeping things fresher, lettuce in particular.
