Need "under the sea" party ideas!!
I'm planning LO's 1st birthday and it's an under the sea theme. Any ideas for decorations, cupcakes, food?
Thanks!!!
Re: Need "under the sea" party ideas!!
Cute theme!
I have had these beach cupcakes in my google reader for a while wanting to try them. Something like that may be cute.
As for food, maybe an island-inspired menu? Here are some ideas.
Or you can simply make a regular menu (that's more kid-friendly) and just make tags renaming things to reflect your theme. Like SEA-dish meatballs (swedish meatballs).. stuff like that.
Decor: you could hang up nets and hang fish toys/stuffed animals whatever in them and it would make a cute area for the kids to take pictures in front of. I would stick with fun colors like aqua and oranges.
Goldfish crackers! Kids and adults love these things. Plus, they have so many varieties now, you could do different flavors in bowls all around.
I would also think something like a blue jello parfait with gummy sharks in it could be a very cute dessert.
Hi! I did a "Little Mermaid" themed party for my youngest's 1st Birthday last year...
Did a blue "Ocean Water" punch. Also brought in my daughters' plastic swimming pool and filled it with "Sand Bakkel" (Sand Castle) cookies in bags as favors. Played "Little Mermaid" on TV...
Decorated with Blue Christmas Tree Lights and my really good friend lent me her gorgeous glass fish themed pitcher - which I was nervous about and displayed out of reach instead of using.
Love the Beach Cupcakes.
Some posters suggested that I decorate with teal balloons and streamers which I didn't do - but I thought was a great idea.
Good Luck to you and please share your photos. (I'll try to find some of my old ones to post - but I'm sure there are better ones out there).
Some friends did this for their son's bday a few years back. They had taped blue cellophane to their windows and their entire house had a blue glow about it. It was very cool to walk into!
Tulle can also be inexpensive and add the feel of netting too.
Put some of the snacks in fish bowls.
Bubbles: real for outside/ clear helium filled balloons for inside.
Jellyfish - use balloons (blue or clear or pink if inspired by Sponge Bob!) and attach the tentacles (made of either yarn or streamers or uninflated long balloons).
That's all I got...I had a lot of fun at our friend's under the sea party, can you tell???

Hi:
I did this for DS's 1st birthday. For favors I bought sand buckets and pails at the dollar store and then I made starfish, octopus, fish shaped sugar cookies and decorated them. Each family got a bucket full of cookies. I wanted to do a clam bake for food, but invitees had shellfish allergies, so no clam bake. I bought fish shaped plates and used ocean themed serving platters. I
