recommend your chemical free sunscreen

I need a new sunscreen and am looking for something without the chemicals. I use California baby for my ds but want something for my dh and I.

I don't think you are going to find any that are totally chemical free (well guess it depends on how you define chemical). We use Natures Gate on us and our son.

I've been using Alba fragrance free mineral sunblock this summer. I am very happy with it! It's a little thick at first, but once you get it worked in, there's no smell or greasy feeling.

The Environmental Working Group (ewg.org) has a sunscreen database, where they've compiled all the information on chemical-free and chemical-based sunscreens.  I think you have to sign up for their e-mails in order to access that info, but possibly not... they also have an app for the iPhone where you can search for the best-rated sunscreens based on ingredients and UVA protection (they're all UVA/UVB sunscreens, but some advertise good UVA protection falsely)

The only one I've tried so far was Burts Bees.... it was like smearing on Elmer's Glue.

Another tip is to wear loose fitting rash guards when outside (by kids and adults) they help keep the sun off but are breathable in the heat.
