Wool soaker question

We have not had lots of success with our cloth diapers.  DS always leaks out or the edges of the diaper cover leech out the moisture and transfer it to his clothes.  We want to try wool diaper covers.  I'm hoping this will solve the problem, and I've heard so many great things about wool.

When you change the baby's diaper do you have to change the wool cover too?  I know you do if it gets poopy, but if it's just up against the wet diaper does it need to be changed with every diaper change?  How often do you need to launder them?  Do you just throw them in with the prefolds or fitted dipes?

Thanks for the help.

I would change the cover between, depending on how wet it is. If you want to do wool all the time you will want to have a few in your rotation so that while one air dries, you can use another. I would wash differently, and not nearly as frequently as your prefolds.

Have you tried some different folds with your prefolds to avoid leaking? I know that at the beginning with our daughter and runny BF poo it would leak, but I am confident that I didn't try enough folds.

You should check out the EcoFriendlyFamily board on the Bump. That is where I got most of my advice on CDing and DD is now 14mos and we are still with cloth and enjoying it. Don't give up though!
