Thursday poll: What's your least favorite holiday and why?

I know it's not Thursday yet... but darn close!

Following up to Tuesday's post... and holidays that one does not care about?

Re: Thursday poll: What's your least favorite holiday and why?

  • I'll respond first Hmm

    Any holiday that the company I work for doesn't consider a "paid holiday". I always hate it when July 4th comes around and you realise half the summer is over and you haven't done crap yet all summer cause you've been a slave at the office.

    I really do not have a least favorite, so I will steal your reason and Holiday. Any extra days off with pay... it absolutely just fine by me. :c )
  • EWW! I just re-read (I am half awake, not sure WTH I am still doing up??) that you have to work of 4th of July?? Your employers should be ashamed of themselves! That is time to be spent with family. That is greed, pure greed! I'm sorry. {{{HUGS}}}
  • My least favorite is New Year's Eve. There's always so much hype around it and it's like it has to be the greatest night of the year. I'm not a fan of Easter either just because there are so many cute Easter dresses and outfits but most of the time it's too cold so I'm stuck in wintery black pants and a sweater.

  • Too bad I work at a 24/7 facility... so someone has to work the holidays. 1/3 of the time I'm on call, so not totally off with pay (some holidays I get bothered alot, some not at all)... 2/3 of the holidays I'm unreachable on purpose. Luckily I'm admin staff, so the building would have to be burning down before I'd show up to the office on a holiday! I do feel sorry for the hourly staff, but I paid my dues and worked my way up... suckers.
  • Valentine's Day--too commercial and too much pressure.

    One of my co-workers (an older lady) and her husband don't celebrate V-day--they do St. Pat's day instead.  Their first date was on or around St. Pat's and he sends her green flowers at work every year.  It's so cute!

    I like this idea. V-Day gifts are always so cheesy for men and women. I don't need one special day for DH to profess his love for me.

    That is a cute idea.

    I agree about not needing one day for a DH to profess their love, but not all of us are blessed with H's that do. A V-day gift doesn't have to be cheesy or expensive. It can be something that they mention they want , an interest of theirs, something you make from the heart or a romantic night (out of the norm) and maybe a creative way to give it. Wink So in that case V-day is a reminder to them to remind us that they love us. In my case I am the helpless romantic, so I don't need a special day either. I even got called out on a board as Jessica Simpson, for offering a romantic idea. Go figure. Stick out tongue

  • Christmas.  What's the point? I hate it.

    All that stress and hard work for basically no benefit.  And it's freaking cold and among the shortest days of the year, which only makes everything worse.

    I could think of a HUGE point, but I won't go there with you.

    BTW - cute siggy. Yours always make me giggle.
