I always dread today

Well, not really dread. But I have a rule of not turning on the t.v. or radio or reading the papers on 9-11. I always say I'm past it but then when I see or hear anything it takes me back to that day. It's not quite as bad as it was but just enough that it puts me in a funk. Such a gorgeous day turned out to be one of the worst.days.ever. I can still tell you in vivid detail about it...but I can't tell you about yesterday. ;-)

Anyhow, I would like to take this moment to issue a virtual smackdown to my Radio Production teacher at AU for being such an a$$hat that day and making us stay in class.

Re: I always dread today

  • a$$hat is such an appropriate word for that guy....

and for my teammate who just came in and burned my eyeballs by turning on the lights in here....UGH!!!!! we have a million windows that let just enough light in hereeee!!! why do we need all these stupid florescent lights on all DAY!!!!!

    anyway...

yeah, i know what you mean about 9-11. i still get anxious on this day....although it could happen on any day...so very sad what happened... :(

  • I get to look forward to it every year.

Yeah, ALLLLLLLL the schools in Ga closed except West Georgia (where I was going at the time).  So there I was, national emergency on my 21st birthday and stuck in school with everyone else.

  • yuuuum! well happy birithday! welcome to the big 28 club... LOL :)
  • Yeah, today is a sad day. Honestly, I don't even remember what I was doing when it happened. =(

     HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSIE! :D:D:D:D:D

  • Happy Birthday, Jessie!  A friend mine has a birthday today too.  She apparently stopped celebrating after 9/11 because she felt guilty to be happy on such a day.  I'm taking her out to dinner tonight to a place that has NO tv's!  I hope you have a wonderful birthday, too.
  • Happy Birthday to you!!!
  • I honestly forgot what today was until it hit me during my ride in to work.  I don't like to watch the specials because they always make me so emotional.

And I hear ya on the a$$hats that made you stay in class.  I had class AND work that day and I seriously didn't feel like doing any of it.  I just wanted to go crawl in a hole somwhere.

    Siggy coming soon....
  • I remember so much about that day.   I was at JSU and my brother was in High School.  They decided to play their football game that night to help keep things "normal" for the kids.  So me and DH drove the 1.5 hr to get their.  On the way out of Jacksonville we couldn't find a gas station that didn't have cars spilling into the streets waiting to buy gas.  We drove  a few minutes out of town and found an empty gas station! When I went in to pay this sweet little middle eastern man was there working all by himself.  Otherwise the place was deserted.  I have always felt sorry for him.  I hope the reason was just b/c he was out of the way but so many people were so scared that day...

  • I remember that I was off work that day and woke up to the news being full of such horrible stories. It all seemed like a really bad dream and I kept thinking...this isn't real. I could not leave the tv. Although I was in a fog of denial, it was all too real. This tragedy motivated me to get on with my life and I began to make some serious changes that I had been afraid to make prior.
