As part of last night's challenge (which, btw I did not see until this morning bc I don't usually check this board at night, and Holy Post explosion, Batman!) I am posting today! Here is my dilemma:
I need a life. Seriously. Don't laugh. Here is the thrilling extent of my day, EVERY DAY: I wake up at 6 or so to go to the bathroom (thank you, first trimester), lay around for a while until I can go back to sleep, sleep until like 10 or 11. I get up, wander into the living room, catch up on the Nest, and snuggle my cats until 11:30 when I make lunch and call my grandmother. I talk to DH over IM while he's at work, perhaps do some laundry or general pickup, call my BFF, and surf the internet. I watch Baby Story from 1-2 on TLC, and have a snack, while deciding what to cook for dinner. Then I either get sucked in to more TLC, or I take a nap. After my nap, I talk to DH some more, play with the cats, and play on the web... DH comes home at 5 or 6 (always different), and I start dinner at 6. We watch TV, have dinner, watch more TV, and then do dinner clean-up. Then we either start a movie, or he watches TV that I don't want to, so I go read or return to the internet. Around 9, my brother or my dad will call, I'll talk to them a while, and we'll go to bed and read the baby book.
The constant sleeping is due to the first trimester, which I'm told will pass. And I don't neglect the housework (although I'm not the world's best housewife). But I need a life. I'm going to go back to work part time for a few months (blech- job hunting sucks), but that basically just takes away my afternoon TV. I need to meet people and do something that does not involve my couch. Help me!!
Re: The Rock-n-Voll Challenge!
Isn't it amazing how the day somehow flies by when you're unemployed? In addition to working PT, you could look into volunteer opportunities (I use www.volunteermatch.org). I'm sure Cambridge has lots of community-center/adult education-type classes you could take; they can be really fun. And, of course, there are GTGs
That sounds like my random holidays off from work that DH doesn't get. I remember when I first got home from college it was 3 weeks before I got a job and I was so bored. There were times I wondered why I got out of bed in the morning.
Definitely try to find a PT job, or volunteer like Rock said. I bet shelters or the library would be happy to have someone come in a few hours a day.
If that falls through try to think of a project you could do. Is there a scrap book your want to make of your wedding? Maybe something baby related? You could knit/crochet a blanket. Or come with ideas for things to make for the nursery.
Oh just wait til second tri! I pee 900 times a night. lol
How about taking a lesson of some sort- tennis? cake decorating (they offer these at Michael's)? Volunteering? You could check the Boys and Girls club, a shelter (human or animal), or the hospital near you to see what their opportunities are.
