Re: Almost time for football..
THANK GOODNESS.
Who is ready? I AM!! My phone has a countdown to Oklahoma State's first football game, and I'll probably put a ticker up in August.
Who are you pulling for? College football wise, I always pull for OSU. And, because my husband's a Texas fan (and I like Texas myself), I pull for them, too. I don't watch a lot of NFL, but I might actually pull for the Cowboys this year since Dez Bryant's playing for them. And the Redskins.
What do you think about your schedule and season? OSU's got a tough schedule ahead of them. I'm SO grateful we have an offensive coordinator this year who knows his stuff, but we lost a lot of key players last year. I'm nervous to see how our new QB performs (although, he was awesome in the one game he did play in last season), and I wonder how our offense will change because of the new coordinator and loss of players.
Our schedule will be a tough one - we play Nebraska and OU (which will help since we play at home, but still tough match-ups), and we play Texas and Tech on their turf (which could suck). I'm not too worried about non-conference, but Tulsa's not a team we should sleep on...and we're notorious for losing games we should win.
Who is ready? ME, ME, ME!!
Who are you pulling for? Bama, no question, been a Bama fan since birth! I have been to one game every year since I was 1! I am the same as you, I like college, especially the SEC. My husband is also like yours, a Texas fan. So you can imagine what our house was like this past year.
What do you think about your schedule and season? Our schedule is pretty tough. There are 6 teams that have open weeks before playing us. Its hard to come in being National Champs and everyone not want to knock you down. I think we lost some key guys on defense, such as Javier Arenas and Rolando Mcclain.... but we also replaced them with people who played almost all last season. We also had some injuries last year, people like D'onta Hightower and Julio Jones should be back in full swing. Our quarterback, I seem to have a good bit of faith in. Even though he had that rough patch last year, he seemed to keep it together. We have a young team and some depth to our roster, so I am ready to see it all together. PLUS I am a huge Saban fan, I love his work ethic and what he has brought back to this program. ROLL TIDE ROLL
I think if OSU stays strong in a couple of seasons they could rule the Big 12. Texas I think lost some key defensive players, on top of a quarterback. YEA YEA YEA, I know that he played in the NC but those were some pretty special cicumstances. He has to play a whole season and not prepare for one team for over a month in the NC. I was reading alot about OSU the other day and ya'll could come out pretty strong. I am not totally counting Texas out but time will tell with them. OU will be pretty good, they played with that qb most of last season. I also think that Tech wont be a hard one for you. They have taken on Tuberville as a new coach, it might take them a while to come back, on the other hand they could keep on and never skip a beat.
Fun fact: OSU vs Bama in the Independence Bowl a couple of years back, is the only BAMA game I have ever been to that they have lost. I know that is pretty fortunate, but I had no clue how to act.
Honestly, I am not ready yet. The local coverage is sporadic on signings or who showed up to which blankety-camp once in a while.
But in July, I like baseball. I think its slow pace matches the lazy days of summer. Football is intense and I am just not in the mood for intense.
But don't worry ladies, come late August when the night air gets cool, I will be waving my Patriots flag wildly. I don't really follow college football except when something gets national attention -- my college didn't have a football team.
Who is ready? :: raises hand enthusiastically!! ::
Who are you pulling for? Chargers (of course!)
What do you think about your schedule and season? I think they have a pretty easy schedule. Their toughest opponent is Indianapolis, but they've done pretty well against them the last couple years.
Who is ready? I am! I have been for a long time!
Who are you pulling for? Auburn! War Eagle! And Texas as well.
What do you think about your schedule and season? Auburn's schedule is interesting with the Clemson game in there. I think we are going to have a good season..things went well under Chizik last year and I think things will just continue to get better.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
Who is ready? I suppose now that the World Cup is over I can start thinking about football
Who are you pulling for? College- Penn State and Duke, NFL - 49ers
What do you think about your schedule and season? Honestly, I have not really looked at the schedules. I know both Penn State and Duke are playing Alabama. Hoping the Penn St game will be a good game and PSU will win. I am not really expecting Duke to win, but hopefully it is not a complete blowout.
Who is ready? I've been ready for quite some time
Who are you pulling for? College- Texas, NFL- Packers
What do you think about your schedule and season? I haven't checked out Texas yet. As far as Green Bay's schedule, I think they've got a decent schedule. Of course, I'm looking forward to Weeks 7 and 11 when they play Minnesota.
I remember that game. Man how Bama's bounced back! The team Bama's got now is definitely not the team we played in the Independence Bowl.
I think we actually have a shot of beating Texas this year, but we ALWAYS freeze up when we play them. Two of the four years I was attending OSU, we built big leads in the first half to them, then blew it in the second half and lost by a bunch. I know we can beat them, but it probably won't happen. If OU doesn't get past Texas, I'm not sure we will, either.
We freeze against OU, too. I'm hoping playing on our turf will help, but we'll see. That game's always a tough one since it's the last one of the season and there's SO much hype around it. Hopefully, we'll score this year...that 27-0 shutout last year was freaking ridiculous.
Who is ready? Oh Goodness I can't wait for football. I'll be able to watch TV again.
Who are you pulling for? Go Bulls! Hey they may not be as well know but they've been growing quickly and I gotta support my school. I also watch the Gators so I can give my step-dad a hard time especially when they play the Noles.
What do you think about your schedule and season? I've been so swamped at work so I must admit I can't recall it at the moment but who cares. It's football!
I'm not a huge college football fan (my college didn't have a team) but I definitely support Temple and have enjoyed watching them grow as a team over the past few seasons. They even went to a bowl game last year! It was some wack, unknown game, but STILL!
On the flip side, I'm a HUGE Philadelphia Eagles fan. This should be an interesting season, with McNabb going to Washington. They say Kolb's our starter but are holding onto Vick so who knows. Unfortunately, my hopes aren't super high. I still can't wait though!!!
I really suck at staying pregnant
Can't wait for football season, I've been counting down the days.
Rooting for the Dolphins, I just hope this is the year.

Who is ready? It's pretty difficult to find games on tv here, so I have to keep up via the internet. As a result it hasn't appeared on my radar yet.
Who are you pulling for? College- Tennessee NFL - Bengals
What do you think about your schedule and season? I haven't looked at either of them yet.
Who is ready? We are!
Who are you pulling for? Ohio State (my alma mater), Big 10 in general. Neither of us are big pro fans, but watch it if nothing else is on.
What do you think about your schedule and season? I wish we were playing some more non-conference teams, but that is how its been for years. Miami might be a bit tough, but we'll see. Overall, I think if Pryor has his sh!t together, we are going to have an awesome year.
